Some Background:
Matt Kokkonen was born in Finland and is a legal immigrant.

He has been a financial planner on the Central Coast for 40 years. He is a Chartered Financial Consultant and a Chartered Life Underwriter. Kokkonen also has a Masters degree in Management and another one in Financial Services. He has been a guest lecturer at Cal Poly and other institutions.

Matt has been married to Jean for 44 years. They have two children, a son who is a computer technician and a daughter who is a USAF Lt. Colonel and an emergency medicine doctor. Matt Kokkonen was the Republican nominee for Congress in the 2008 election in San Luis Obispo against Lois Capps. He is a pilot and flies a Helio Courier.
